First Do No Harm.

As reliance on Artificial Intelligence and other health information technology grows it is becoming progressively evident that properties of health data design and use can inadvertently result in harm to patients, providers and the healthcare system. To guide the safe use of health data in Canada it is important that data governance, public policy and technology standards are designed to minimize all potential harm. This is challenging to do without first recognizing the harms that can occur.

The Health Data Related Harm (HDRH) framework provides a comprehensive means to identify and measure harm arising from poor health data access, quality and use.
