About Us
Networked Health is a community of people working together to improve healthcare by designing optimized information and data systems. Our goal is to create safer care, better connections across the health system, and a future that’s more innovative, collaborative, and evidence-based.
Our members bring a wide range of experience from across the health sector. Together, we’re focused on improving patient outcomes, supporting the health of entire communities, lowering healthcare costs, and making the work experience better for healthcare providers.
We follow a Collective Impact model—an approach that recognizes meaningful, lasting social change happens when people from different areas come together, align their efforts, and work toward shared goals over time. It’s this kind of teamwork that makes real progress possible.

Our Story
Our group first came together during the COVID-19 pandemic focusing on virtual care during a time when the need in Alberta was rapidly increasing. Our goal was to optimize how virtual care was delivered, and we quickly discovered that success depended on better information and data systems working together seamlessly.
This insight expanded our focus beyond virtual care alone. We began working on improving how health information and data systems are designed and connected across the entire healthcare system.
While we remain committed to advancing virtual care, our shift from being called the Alberta Virtual Care Coordinating Body to Networked Health reflects our broader mission and growing impact.
Members & Partners
Networked Health functions by joining members in a common commitment to uphold shared principles of health data design and use that foster the provision of quality health programs and services and promote the health and wellbeing of Albertans and Canadians. Much of the work of Networked Health is carried out through focused, time-limited working groups populated by individuals with expertise in the area of interest, and supported by partnering organizations. In this manner, Networked Health aims to expand its scope of partners who join in the cooperative effort to achieve principle-based quality health data design and use.
